LOCAL ADVICE FOR YOUR ADDRESS

Start with the space, access and waste at your address

These 20 London area pages cover recognised town centres and their surrounding neighbourhoods. A driveway refit, a flat clearance and a managed-building refurbishment can need very different placement arrangements. Choose your area for practical loading advice, a borough-council reference and links to other locations in London.

CHOOSE BY MATERIAL AND VOLUME

Which skip size suits your London project?

Compare the common sizes, then call with your materials list. Capacity alone does not determine the right container: heavy soil, rubble and concrete need an agreed loading limit.

Nominal capacities are a guide. Confirm the local container’s dimensions, permitted materials and weight limit before booking. Keep every load within the agreed level and never heap waste above the rim.

AGREE THE LOAD BEFORE YOU START

What can you put in a skip?

Tell us about every material when requesting a quote. Acceptance depends on the agreed waste type and local arrangement.

Commonly accepted, by agreement

  • Non-hazardous household clearance waste
  • Timber, cardboard and ordinary packaging
  • Garden cuttings and suitable green waste
  • Bricks, concrete, soil and rubble within agreed limits

Keep out or arrange separately

  • Asbestos, chemicals, paints, oils and liquids
  • Gas cylinders, batteries and electrical equipment
  • Tyres and other specialist waste
  • Plasterboard and upholstered seating without a confirmed separate arrangement

If you are unsure, leave the item out and ask before loading.

Read the official household waste guidance and upholstered seating rules.

Check the right local placement rules

A borough permit does not automatically authorise placement on a TfL-managed road. Check who controls the actual road, any parking suspension or restriction, and whether the proposed space is safe and permitted. For communal private land, the owner or managing agent's agreement is a separate requirement. Confirm access and local availability by phone before planning work around a skip delivery.

Read the official skip-permit guidance and TfL highway information.
